The 6th International Gas Turbine Conference (IGTC-12) will take place on 17-18 October 2012 in Brussels. It will focus on the future of GT technology from a user’s, research, investment and political point of view, with special focus on:
- The role played by gas turbines in the future international energy policy mix, where intermittent sources of renewable energy may significantly increase, nuclear capacity may drastically decrease by 2050, while the emerging economies’ demand for cheap and secure energy will rapidly rise to assist their economic growth in coming decades;
- Current and future technology trends and the different stakeholders’ views on required technology developments to ensure efficient, flexible, reliable and environmentally sound gas turbine operation.
The keynote sessions at the IGTC-12 will be devoted to the contribution of GT technology development to climate change mitigation, emissions reduction, energy efficiency and to the flexible, integrated operation of electricity grids. Energy policies and initiatives for GT technology development in Europe and globally will be presented, followed by panel discussion with distinguished experts and high level policy makers.
In parallel technical sessions, the conference will address critical research and development activities necessary for the advancement of gas turbine technology, from both operational and environmental perspectives. Recent GT technology and new, innovative solutions will be explored. In the technical sessions there will be a mix of research initiatives and experience reports of real case applications, with the aim to give a balanced view of the future needs for research in GT applications.
